Regional competitions 2018

For selecting PwDs for National competitions, Regional competitions were organized with the support of The Hans Foundation, in four different cities – Pune (29th & 30th May, 2018), Kolkata (1st & 2nd June, 2018), Hyderabad (15th & 16th June, 2018) and Delhi/NCR (29th & 30th June, 2018) - covering West, East, South and North zones respectively. Competitions were organized in 10 skill trades under 3 major categories namely -

  • •   ICT/Computers – Data Processing (Basic & Advanced); Word Processing/English Text Processing; Creating Web Pages; Poster Designing; Computer Programming and Photography
  • •   Crafts – Embroidery; Waste Reuse and Painting (Colours)
  • •   Food – Restaurant Service

 

The events comprised four different sets of activities in all zones –

    • 1. Inaugural Ceremony and Regional Conference on ‘Excellence in Skilling of PwDs through Abilympics
    • 2. Vocational skill competitions in 10 skill trades
    • 3. Job Fair for PwD participants
    • 4. Valedictory session and Awards ceremony.

 

430 PwD participants from different states through various NGO’s, Engineering Colleges, National Institutes and other organizations competed. Overall, there were 26 Gold Medalists, 30 Silver Medalists and 25 Bronze Medalists in all Zones. All the remaining participants were awarded 'certificate of participation'.

Regional competitions 2019

NAAI elected 10 more new skills in 2019 for participation in International Abilympics, to give chance to more talented PwDs. The competitions were held in ll four zones -

    • 1. West Zone Regional Event, Mumbai – June 14 - 15, 2019
    • 2. North Zone Regional Event, Delhi – July 4 - 5, 2019
    • 3. South Zone Regional Event, Chennai – July 19 - 20, 2019
    • 4. East Zone Regional Event, Kolkata – August 9 - 10, 2019

 

These events were organized in partnership with The Hans Foundation, in 10 new sub-categories of competitions –

      • •   ICT/Computers – Desktop Publishing; Character designing; E-Sports
      • •   Crafts – Floral Arrangement
      • •   Services – Jewellery Making; Tailoring; Beauty Therapy
      • •   Industry – CAD Architecture
      • •   Food – Bakery; Cooking

 

The Regional events comprised four different sets of activities in all zones –

      • 2. Vocational skill competitions in 10 skill trades
      • 3. Job Fair for PwD participants
      • 4. Valedictory session and Awards ceremony.

 

The events were graced by more than 235 participants from different states, through different institutes, organizations and individually. Across the four zones 23 Gold Medals, 28 Silver Medals, and 28 Bronze Medals were awarded to winners in Services, ICT/Computers, Crafts, Food and Industry skill categories.
