Avinash KS, a young man from Mysuru, India, was born with a hearing impairment. He has been using his hearing aid since childhood and has always been fascinated by the glittering Jewellers' shop windows.
After school, he joined a jewelry design and technology course at JSS College in Mysuru and completed his diploma.
His father and mentors at the college have been very supportive of his efforts at learning to make jewelry. He is getting regular training in the course.
Avinash has been motivated to participate in the 2019 NAAI regional competition by the faculty at his college.
Skill category - Jewellery Making
One of the vocations that are contested in the Abilympics is jewellery making. Jewellery making art that is both useful and decorative, and can be made from a wide variety of materials. Participants have to create beautiful piece of jewellery from the raw material provided.
The Abilympics jewellery-making competition is a chance for Candidates with disabilities to showcase their skills and gain confidence that they can compete with able-bodied jewellery makers.
