Farukh Shiekh was born with a hearing disability. His family was not stable and due to poor financial conditions, he started his career as a Steward to stand on his own feet after passing 10th standard. He was well supported by his managers and training department of the hotel from the time he joined.

His name was proposed by Sarovar Group when NAAI was seeking nominations for wild card entries in that skill. He is being trained by the Training Department of Hotel Sarovar Efcee, Bhavnagar, offline on weekly basis. His never giving up attitude and willpower to get a independent by fighting all odds made him stand out.
