Achievements

NAAI is in its 19th year of existence. During this period the Abilympics movement has spread throughout the country and has helped increase awareness about the abilities of persons with disability in society. Each year, since its inception, the organization has continued to grow whilst maintaining a high standard.


International participation:

Since its beginning NAAI has represented India in the 6th (2003-India), 7th (2007- Japan), 8th (2011-South Korea) and 9th (2016 - France), International Abilympics. Brief details of Indian participation in International Abilympics are as follows:


Next International Abilympics are going to be held in Moscow, Russia in May 2021.

NAAI Regional competitions – Round 1 (2018):

NAAI successfully organized two­day regional events in Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Noida representing the West, East, South, and North zones respectively. These events witnessed an overall participation of more than 1400 visitors including participants, escorts, guests, officials, Judges, and job aspirants in its Regional Conference, NAAI Competitions, and Job Fairs organized in all the four zones.

Skill categories for NAAI Competition: The vocational skill competitions for the Persons with Disabilitie (PwDs) were held in 10 skill trades under ICT, Crafts and Food categories. Out of the 26 skill categories initially advertised by NAAI, 10 were finalized based on the number of entries received from the interested participants.

Regional Conference: Regional Conference were directed towards three aspects namely Abilympics as an opportunity to instill and promote excellence in skilling of PwDs, Scope and significance of corporate leadership for PwD inclusivity, and hiring of PwDs as a 3P advantage.

Job Fairs: In Job Fairs at Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Noida 109, 46, 54, 64 candidates were shortlisted respectively by corporate from IT, Retail, Hospitality and other sectors Wipro, CCD, Phoenix, Future Group, Bazaar Kolkata, Sutherland, Dr. Reddy's, Vindhya lnfotech, Aegis Karvy, Sodexo, Sarovar Hotels, Minda, lntelenet, and ICCS, were the major hiring partners in these job fairs.

NAAI Competitions: Participants from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya-Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand, Northeast, Andhra-Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana Delhi NCR, Haryana Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh competed in West, East, South, and North zone Abilympics events respectively.

Across the four zones, 26 Gold Medals, 30 Silver Medals, and 25 Bronze Medals were awarded to winners in ICT, Crafts, and Food

NAAI in World Skills Asia 2018:

The recent collaboration with World Skills India and joint hosting of the National Event has proved to the Abilympics movement, as NAAI was invited by World Skills Asia to demonstrate the unique skills and talents of Persons with Disability during their event held in Abu Dhabi from 26th to 29th November 2018.

During the event, NAAI participant also demonstrated skills, garnering huge attention and appreciation from the visitors. Delegations from Japan, Korea and many other countries were some of the main dignitaries who witnessed the NAAI pavilion and appreciated the talent and achievements of NAAI.

More than 20 Asian countries including Chinese Taipei, Japan UAE, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and many others participated in the event, to showcase their talent in 17 trades. The biggest skill competition of Asia was inaugurated by Director General, H. E Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, who shared his perspective on the significance of skilled manpower to build a sustainable nation.

Prince Mohammed Bin Khalifa Bin Mohammed Bin Khalid Al Ain Hayan, H.E Fahar Al uwaidi, CEO World Skills Asia and many other dignitaries also graced the NAAI pavilion and showed great appreciation for the efforts made by NAAI in the field of disability through Abilympics.


Regional Competitions Round -2 (2019):

NAAI successfully organized the second round of selections through two-day regional events held in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata representing West, North, South and East zones respectively. These events witnessed overall participation of 1200+ visitors including participants, guests, officials, jury members and job aspirants in its regional conference, NAAI competitions & Job fairs across all four zones.

Skill categories for NAAI Competition: The vocational skill competitions for the PwDs were held in 10 new skill trades under Services, ICT/Computers, Crafts, Food and Industry categories.

Regional Conference: Regional Conference included panel discussions by CSR representatives, corporate, eminent media persons around the means and strategies to discuss the aspects of excellence in skilling of PwDs and contributing to inclusive and equal opportunity workplace for PwDs.

Job Fairs: In Job Fairs at Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai & Kolkata 900+ candidates actively participated for selection in various job roles in IT, Retail, Hospitality and other sectors. Big Basket, Capgemini, Aegis Global, Concentrix, Accor Group Pullman Hotels, Spencer's retail, Bureau Veritas, Puma, Flipkart, Vividhta, Sutherland, Tata Croma, Wipro, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Holiday Inn, Reliance Trends, and Comfort furnishing were the major hiring partners in these job fairs.

NAAI Competitions: Participants from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamilnadu, Delhi NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh competed in West, East, South, and North zone Abilympics events respectively.

Across the four zones 23 Gold Medals, 28 Silver Medals, and 28 Bronze Medals were awarded to winners in Services, ICT/Computers, Crafts, Food and Industry categories.

National Competition:

Following the regional selections, NAAI conducted the National Abilympic competitions on October 2-6, 2018, alongwith the World Skills India competitions for non-Divyangjan, In Aerocity, New Delhi. This was the first ever platform, where Divyangjan and Non-Divyangjan competed alongside each other as an inclusion initiative by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the ambit of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).


National competitions of 2019 regional competition winners were held on November 15 and 16, 2019, at AICTE Campus, Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.

Thereafter, skill support to hone the talent as per the International level competitions would now be arranged for selected participants through industry partners, academia central universities, and corporate to prepare them for International Abilympics in May 2021.
